New Zealand Society for Oncology Conference 2025

The New Zealand Society for Oncology hosts an annual conference to bring together world-class clinicians, researchers, nurses, students, allied health professionals, and industry leaders to share cutting-edge insights, spark new ideas, and strengthen collaboration across their community. The 2025 conference, in partnership with the NZNO Cancer Nurses College, was no exception and featured renowned experts who shared the latest developments in cancer treatment, research, and clinical practice, driving meaningful discussions to help shape the future of oncology.
Growth and community
The 55th Annual Conference posed a very positive challenge. The NZSO is growing, with membership and engagement increasing every year. This surge in attendance stimulated discussion and assessment on how to best utilise the conference venue to accommodate the record number of 350 attendees – a wonderful issue to resolve. The theme for the conference; Cancer and our Community, grew the event even further, engaging and educating the public for the first time through a pre-conference public lecture at the University of Otago and a series of on-air radio interviews.
Memorable moments
The Society’s membership are dedicated professionals who work hard in this difficult industry to advance treatment options and share their learnings. A highlight of the 2025 conference was the early career networking function for newer industry professionals to learn from experienced mentors. In contrast to the scientific focus, a memorable moment for the CI team every year is the conference dinner and awards. This annual event brings everyone together to unwind, socialise and enjoy connecting and celebrating their achievements.
Close collaboration
The 2025 conference was the 21st NZSO event for CI, having managed every annual conference since 2004. This long-standing relationship has become a true collaboration with our team working alongside the NZSO, celebrating in their success and striving for bigger and better conferences every year.
